Nowadays, food has become easier to prepare. Has this change improved the way people live? Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.
The twentieth century has brought with it many advances. With those advances, human lives have changed dramatically. In some ways life is worse, but mostly it is better. Changes in food preparation methods, for example, have improved our lives greatly.
In 1990, new rules and guidelines were adopted in the United Kingdom that has changed the whole field of Archaeology in that country. The new guidelines improved the situation in all there areas discussed in the passage.
First, the new guidelines state that before any construction project can start, the construction site has to be examined by archaeologists to see whether the site is of archaeological interest or value. If the site is of archaeological interest, the next step is for the builders, archaeologists and local government officials to get together and make a plan for preserving the archaeological artifacts, either by building around them or by excavating and documenting them properly before the construction is allowed to proceed.
Second, an important part of the new guidelines is a rule that any archaeological work done on the construction site will be paid for by the construction company not by the government. The construction company has to pay for the initial examination of the site, and then for all the work carried out under the preservation plan. This is a whole new source of financial support. The funding from construction companies has allowed researchers to study a far greater range of archaeological sites than they could in the past.
Last, the new guidelines provide a lot of paid work for archaeologists, work that didn’t exist before. Expert archaeologists are now hired at all stages of the process to examine the site for archaeological value, then to help draw up the preservation plan to do the research in a professional scientific manner and finally to process the date and write reports and articles. The increased job and career opportunities in Archaeology have increased the number of professional archaeologists in Britain, which is now the highest it’s ever been.
Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? One should never judge a person byexternal appearances. Use specific reasons and details to support your answer.
范文:
What do you feel when a handsome gentleman or a beautiful lady passes by? Then how about afat short person wearing a dirty shirt? You feel differently? Yes, most people do. It's very commonfor people to judge a person by external appearance, because it's easy and direct, and it's instinctive. Appearance is a very important aspect of a person and reflects one's metimes you can tell the person's characteristics from his appearance. However, in most cases,you can't tell exactly what the person is like just from the external appearance, and ethically, weshould not judge a person just by one glance at his external appearance.
"Beauty and beast" and "Snow white and seven dwarves" are two stories that are almost knownby everyone. Although there are fables, there are deep meanings inside them. What you can learnfrom them is that people that are not so good-looking can be very good people internally. Andactually there are tons of examples in reality. Napoleon is a very short guy, but he was one of themost famous people in the history. Theodore Roosevelt, former US president during World WarII, is handicapped; but he is one of the most successful presidents in American history. So howcan you tell about the people from their external appearance?
Moreover, there are other undeniable facts which show that a beautiful person may be rotteninside. There are many prostitutes on the busy streets. It's obviously that they are very beautiful,but are they really righteous people? A beautiful appearance is a good thing, but a righteous heartis more valuable. Finally, as we can see, it's out of question that we should not judge people justfrom their external appearance. The most important standard is their internal personality.
Some people are always in a hurry to go places and get things done. Other people prefer totake their time and live life at a slower pace. Which do you prefer? Use specific reasons andexamples to support your answer.
范文:
Life is short. Haste makes waste. What's your hurry? These three sayings characterize the way Imanage my day to day chores. I don't want to rush through things; I prefer to take my time.Life is short. You never know what may happen tomorrow so it is important to enjoy today. Ofcourse, some people will say that's why it is important to cram a lot into a day. But then, howwould you possibly have time to enjoy all of those experiences. By doing a few things slowly anddoing them well, you can savor the experience.
Haste makes waste. We are not machines. We can't rush through things mechanically. If we do,we might forget something; we might take shortcuts. By taking our time, we can do a chorecarefully, completely, and correctly.
What's your hurry? Where's the fire? I don t see any need to rush to the next experience. There'sstill a lot to see and learn from the chores around you. Taking care of your baby brother forinstance can be very rewarding. You could simply keep him near you while you watch TV andwrite a letter and talk on the phone. Or you could devote your whole attention to him and observehis reactions to his environment. You can observe carefully, if you are trying to do four things atthe same time.
To twist a common saying, "Don't just do something, sit there!" Take life easy and savor eachminute. Life is shorter than you think.
Some people prefer to work for themselves or own a business. Others prefer to work for an employer. Would you rather be self-employed, work for someone else, or own a business? Use specific reasons to explain your choice.
范文:
There are many advantages for people to work for themselves and have their own business. Forexample, you don't need to worry about getting up too late for work; you don't need to worryabout the relationship between you and your boss; you may go to work at any time you want,because you are the boss of your own business. You may lead a more spontaneous and free-stylelife. In spite of this, personally, I would like to work for someone else.
No matter what kind of business you own, a domestic or international company, or a small onelike a snack shop, you have to take care of many things such as a license, rent, your personnel,your competitors, product-market, even the weather if you own an umbrella shop.
That is what I don't like. I don't like a complicated life. I mean, I am just a normal female whohasn't much ambition either in my life or in my career. I am used to having a simple life, a regularlife with discipline, without much risk. What is most important for me, besides work, is that I canstill have free time the things I enjoy doing, and don't need to think about the business all the time.For me, being a business owner might have too much risk and stress.
Of course, being an employee, you are subject to discipline, and pay attention to your boss, butthat's a part of life, just like for others, paying attention to their own business, earning a lot ofmoney, and having risk are parts of their lives.
In a phrase, I would rather to work for someone else. I just want to have my own simple andregular life!

In today’s world, it is more important to work quickly and risk making mistakes than to work slowly and make sure that everything is correct.
Modern technological development has made our lives faster than ever before. Under this circumstance, people nowadays tend to live with a faster pace, and are now more concerned about efficiency. As a result, doing things slowly and making almost everything correctly seems to be sort of out of date. In a modern society, people should work at a higher speed and risk taking mistakes.

1. “计划烧除”对动物有害;
2. “计划烧除”会造成烟气和二氧化碳污染;
1. 因为有几个月动物是不繁殖的,而且成年动物在遇火时可以成功逃脱,因此“计划烧除”不会对动物造成危害;
2.“计划烧除”可以让植物吸收二氧化碳;

Is the similarity of economic condition one factor on friendship? My answer is a "Yes". Those people who have similar wealth usually share their lifestyle and ideology, which may contribute to the establishment and maintenance of their friendship, although we also need to keep in mind that the shared economic condition is not the only determinant in this issue.
The establishment of friendship often relies on people's similar lifestyle. People often need an opportunity to start forging their friendship, and this often happens if they fall into the same social category. It is highly possible that the people who have similar money go to the same bar and start talking, as opposed to the people who have different wealth. For instance, middle-class workers must go to different places for entertainment from the low-class ones, reducing the probability of creating friendship between the two classes.
Another issue associated to the similar economic condition is the fact that people who are similarly wealthy often share similar ideology and interests. As we all know, it is tough to remove the predetermined prejudice and hostility between different social groups, and even worse, they often don't try to suspend the hostility because the expression of the ideas acknowledged by their group can enhance their identity. To narrow the gap between disparage ideas is not as simple as we might suppose. For instance, middle-class people often have an interest in the value of historical heritage, while low-class people may barely have the energy to feed themselves; therefore, beyond any doubt, they cannot create a conversation around either how to travel or how to survive if the two types of people meet on occasions. They don't share their interests.
But I am not arguing that the similarity of the economic condition is the only variable in this issue. Obviously, we are aware of many commonsense and famous cases in which a wealthy person and a poor one forge a sound friendship because of their shared ideology or interests. We can take two economists as an example: when Coase first arrived at the USA, he was very poor because he didn't have an official PhD degree for the application of any faculty position in the US, but Friedman, who was a prestigious economist at that time, knew the Coase's ability and they were quite great friends. The reason is that they shared a similar focus and they both appreciated the counterpart's argument even though their opinions often conflict with each other.
In conclusion, similar economic condition is an important factor in terms of the establishment and maintenance of friendship, but it shouldn't be seen as the determinant of this issue.

It is more enjoyable to have a job and you work only three days a week with long hours rather than work five days a week with shorter hours.
The mode of working among employees is usually a question how efficient and how possible accomplishing a task can be. How long employees should spend at work often times depends on the kind of work and company system, where at times workers do work for longer hours but fewer workdays while others take on short hours for more workdays. I do partake working for long hours for fewer workdays.
