Choosing an Occupation
One of the most important problems a young person faces is deciding what to do. There are some people, of course, who from the time they are six years old _know_ that they want to be doctors or pilots or fire fighters, but the majority of us do not get around to making a decision about an occupation or career until somebody or something forces us to face the problem.
Choosing an occupation takes time, and there are a lot of things you have to think about as you try to decide what you would like to do. You may find that you will have to take special courses to qualify for a particular kind of work, or you may find out that you will need to get actual work experience to gain enough knowledge to qualify for a particular job.
Fortunately, there are a lot of people you can turn to for advice and help in making your decision. At most schools, there are teachers who are professionally qualified to give you detailed information about job qualifications. And you can talk over your ideas with family members and friends who are always ready to listen and to offer suggestions.
In the current world, college students become morally more tolerant to the phenomena such as examcheating, academic dishonesty and default on loans. In this case, it’ s urgently important that we conduct moral education in college.
Moral education is beneficial in the following aspects. To begin with, it makes us aware of our personal responsibility. We must comply with social moral standards and learn to behave and conduct ourselves in society. Secondly, moral education teaches us to shun evil and do good, turning the uncivilized to the civilized. Thirdly, with higher moral standards, we will be more considerate towards others and avoid quarrels or conflicts, which contributes to maintaining a harmonious society.
As for how to conduct moral education in college, on one hand, theoretical moral education should be integrated into all aspects of campus life, including classroom teaching and extracurricular activities. On the other hand, we should encourage students to take part in moral practices such as volunteer activities. Through these measures, they will know better about the meaning of life and shoulder their social responsibilities.
The importance of extracurricular activities
College is a place to raise all-round intellectuals, which means that life on campus should consist of diverse activities rather than mere academic studies; and that’s why extracurricular activities become important.
For one thing, extracurricular activities can provide students with real-life experience in decision-making and problem-solving, through which some specific knowledge or skills are required. For example, the development of leadership skills occurs as students assume ownership for the success of their organization. Such experience will help them more about themselves and point the way to their future career. For another, participation in extracurricular activities will enable students to develop a balance between academic accomplishments and social development. This necessary balance will greatly aid each student to more successfully encounter the challenges of our contemporary society. Moreover, participating in extracurricular activities could also boost students’ development of interpersonal relationship. The awareness of responsibility, cooperation and punctuality, are fostered as each student interacts with other members of their group.
In short, extracurricular activities are vital because they could help students explore their interests and talents, teach them to manage their time and know their limits, as well as fit them in with other students.

Should College Students Hire Cleaners?
It was recently reported that a few college students hired a help to do some cleaning in their dorm. These students attribute this behavior to their limited spare time. They claim that it can help them to save time and pay more attention to their studies. As far as I am concerned, such a chain of reasoning is seriously flawed, and they are just making an excuse for their laziness. College students should not hire a help for their dormitory cleaning.
To begin with, it is not necessary for college students to hire a cleaner. As boarding-school students living in tiny dorms, we don’t have much cleaning to do at all. What we need to do every day is just washing or some basic cleaning, which we learned to do in childhood. Undoubtedly we can manage them ourselves. In addition, cleaning up a dorm won’t take much time. Conversely, it may help us to divert our attention away from studies and reduce our pressure. As a result, we don’t need to hire a cleaner to keep our dorms clean.
A more important reason why university students should not hire a cleaner is that university education involves both knowledge learning and character building. In the university we should try our best to be more independent and self-reliant. Otherwise, we cannot shoulder greater responsibility when we step into the society. If now we still rely on cleaners for dorm sanitation, how can we earn our own living in the future? Consequently, the most basic thing we should do now is to take care of ourselves and prepare for our future, instead of evading responsibility by hiring a help.
In summary, college students should learn to stand on their own feet. Hiring a cleaner is definitely not a wise choice.
Live with a Goal
According to the French writer Alexander Dumas, living without an aim is like sailing without a compass. It signifies that without a goal, one would live a passive life~just like the dead water in a muddy lake.
Frankly speaking, to live with a goal is of tremendous significance to one’ s life. For one thing, a proper aim helps foster the realization of the visions, as people are better motivated when they want to attain the goal they set for themselves and have a sense of fulfillment when they succeed. For another, by setting goals one could take good control of his/her life, without wasting time or energy being confused about what to do. With a clear direction and certain plans, one will readily get what he/she wants.
Consequently, we could draw the conclusion that we should live with a target, as a goaloriented life is an active way of living. Without a clear purpose, we might feel at sea, squandering our time and opportunities.
传统的价值观(Traditional moral values)
there's so much for me to talk about in terms of traditions of family and community as a chinese. confucius alone gave us much food for thought which is still being advocated but hardly practiced today. for example, 'self-cultivation, regulating the family, managing the nation, and establishing peace all over the world', a standard conduct of the chinese society for thousands of years, is eclipsed by individual thirst to glean more fortune.
how one's own fortune goes curtainly prevail over how a nation's does. in china the ammount of bribe money is astonishingly large and the number of corrupt officials which have been brought to the justice is not as large as those who are not yet. why do these civil servants risk their fame and even lives in defiance of law? greed and selfishness account for it. corrupton among public service is but a drop in the ocean when it comes to the demise of the morality. as i walked around the downtown the other day, i found people, with their fancy clothes and stylish hairdos ,appear too materialistic, which is not to my liking. wasn't there a time when things were simpler and people were more humble?once bogged down in private interest, one finds oneself blinded by the greed and selfishness.
advocating the traditional moral values about family and community is definitely necessary. actually it has adopted by the chinese government as a key policy
to run the coounty by combining the rule of law with the rule of virtue ,which is the essence of confucianism. i know modernization is necessary for advancement .however ,i hope we will forget the traditional moral values along the way.
手机的利与弊(Advantages and Disadvantages of the Cell Phone)
Nowadays, with the rapid development of it and information industry, cell phones play a dominant role in towns peoples life. But, like everything else, they have both favorable and mffavorahle , its useful. As a wireless mobile telephone, its easy and handy to early to wherever one goes and call the callee however far away he is. Therefore, it greatly facilitates peoples life. Second, its convenient. Whenever one meets trouble or something urgent, one can nmke a call immediately. Most important of all, its a very helpful companion. With a multirfunction cell phone in hand, one can easily get on the net, browsing the useful information, conducting e-commerce and doing whatever one can do via internet.
However, just as everything has two sides, the cell phone also has many disadvantages. To begin with, its expensive to buy and costly to pay the hills, esp. That of global service. To make matters worse, its also easy to lose and costly to get it repaired. Worst of all,its not as clear as a family telephone and sometimes the number dialed is often not available. Last but not least, its alleged the microwaves in it might do harm to peoples health. In my opinion, with its expenses greatly reduced after chinas entry into the wto, it will face an ever brighter future in its development. Someday most of them will be developed into new intemet-enabled mobile phones, which will be as useful as pocket computers. And i believe its advantages will not only offset its disadvantages, but also far outweigh them.
Conservationists, Please Wake up
With globalization and industrialization increasing in recently years, more and more farmland and forests are being destroyed in the name of modernization. As a result, a couple of wild animals were killed or driven out of their original habitat. Tribal people who are in a peaceful life gradually lose their own lands. Survival’s Director Stephen Cory put forward his point of view about what conservationist should do. I agree with him.
First, tribal people’s rights have to be acknowledged and respected. The conservationists must make it clear that they come to protect the environment rather than destroy it. They are supposed to respect tribal people, including their original habitat, culture and their lifestyles. As a matter of fact, they are not leaders but conservationists.
Second, conservationists have to be treated as the best exports at defending their own people is an important part of the nature, and they know a lot about nature. Conservationists must realize it is they who are junior partners.
To sum up,only in this way can the situation of conservationists be improved.
