when it comes to disasters, quite a lot of people believe they will come across sudden disasters in their life. to begin with, natural disasters like earthquakes, flood and draught occur now and then; in addition, diseases like sars, cancer and tumor will attack people unepectedly; last but not the least, car accidents, plane crashes can’t be ignored as part of disasters.
why there are so many disasters? the reasons may go as follows: on one hand, some mysteries about nature are beyond our control and understanding; on another hand, people are careless and can’t foresee what will happen beforehand.
from what has been discussed above, i may safely draw the conclusion that disasters can’t be avoided now, but with more knowledge about nature, we’ll certainly reduce the loss brought by them to the smallest degree, so the prospect we are looking forward to will be both bright and encouraging.
College Students and Learning
Some students don’t like to study. They are more interested in doing other kind of practical work or relaxing and enjoying themselves. They say that it is no use learning the knowledge from textbooks when you won’t use this at all in your whole life. Even when you look for a job, they won’t pay much attention to your academic records. They put more emphasis on who you are, where you are from and whom you know.
In fact, it is very important for college students to study hard. Firstly, a college student without much knowledge wouldn’t be very useful to the society. What he can reward the society is very little. Secondly, he may hardly find a good job and live a respectable life on account of lack of knowledge. This is also a great loss to himself when he couldn’t find a place in the society. Finally, college students are young and energetic and a college provides the best place for them to grasp science and technology. If they can make full use of time, they are certain to learn something and improve themselves. Therefore, college students should realize the importance of learning and try to obtain as much knowledge as possible.

大家好。今天我很高兴能在这里做一个关于我在中国农业大学首次经历的讲话。
First I must say the campus life is really different from what I have experienced in high instance,I used to lean upon my dormitory teacher to wake me up on now I have to set several alarm clocks to make myself could hear them in the morning otherwise I would miss my then even worse there would be nobody remind me except my teacher!So the differences are everywhere and I could easily find change of life is great and its wonderful:I have more time of my own and the rights to decide how I live.
我要说的第一件事是大学校园生活真的不同于我所经历过的高中。例如，我过去常常依靠宿舍老师来按时叫醒我。但现在我必须设几个闹钟才能让我在早上听到闹钟响，否则我会错过我的课。然后更糟糕的是除了我的老师没有人会提醒我！所以不同到处都是，我可以很轻易地就找到不同之处。生活的变化很大，它也很美妙：我有更多我自己的时间和决定生活方式的权利。

Asked about which symbol can represent ones identity, the first answer occurring to most people, I believe, should be their names. Bingo! Every single person owns a particular name, which uniquely refers to this individual. Name is such an essential part of personal life that it is deliberately considered by parents or grandparents even before his/her birth. Moreover, the name will be with person for a whole life, widely used under any situation, such as filling in registration forms, or a topic of conversations, to name just a few.
However, some people hold different views regarding the necessity of names. They argue that name is no more than an arbitrary symbol. Also, they believe that the good wishes the names express to the person are merely imagination. In this sense, they dont think names are of any great importance.
As far as I am concerned, owning a name is good for the orderly organization of our society. Also, names indicate the long history and culture and express our good wishes for our life and future.
I always feel tired after eight classes a day, so my dream school starts at 8:30 . and ends at 3:30 . There are three lessons in the morning and two in the afternoon. We can choose our favorite lessons to learn. We can spend more time doing some outside reading. The students do after-school activities for one and a half hours every day.
We needn’t do a lot of homework. We are all happy to stay at school. Besides that, my dream school looks like a big garden. There are many kinds of flowers around the modern buildings. Sweet perfumes are diffused all around. If I want to have a rest, I can lie on the grass, listen to music by the lake or look out at the flowers from the classroom teachers here are kind and helpful. They are not only our teachers but also our good friends. The students are polite and friendly. We all know how to keep our school clean and tidy. There is no litter around the campus.
I love my dream school. We will grow up to be happier there.
Too many cars have created a lot of serious problems in our world. Besides congestion, accidents and fast consumption, cars are responsible for a good part of air pollution in big cities. All the time, they are pumping huge amounts of waste gases into the atmosphere. These gases are very harmful, causing disease and even death.
One possible solution is to design and develop clean cars and clean fuels. In Shanghai, some of the public buses begin to run on petrol. But it may take decades for the new models of clean cars to completely replace the traditional ones.
Another solution is to develop modern public transportation systems and restrict the use of private cars. If the price of petrol rises constantly and the public vehicles are efficient and convenient enough, most people will not buy private cars. And the total number of cars in big cities will reduce greatly.
On the whole, the elimination of air pollution needs the collective efforts from the government, the public and the environmentalists.
My View on Helping Others in Need
In modern society we are often sorry to see that people are reluctant to help others out, not to mention helping a stranger; offering a helping hand seems to be out of accord with the times.
Then what’s wrong with our society? Some people may say that facing skyrocketing housing prices, expensive medical expenditure
and soaring modity prices, they have no choice but to struggle to make a living, and thus it would be impossible to spare a hand to help others because it may bring them into trouble. Therefore, standing by indifferently is their only choice.
However, is it necessary to be selfish in order to survive, or in order to ensure that people do not take advantage of you? In my opinion, helping others brings a strong sense of acplishment. What’s more, the evaluation criteria
for judging one individual’s success should be modified so that offering a helping hand to people in need is encouraged and weled in our society all the time.
You may feel that college life is boring. We do not know how to deal with the plenty of spare time. But I think the college life will become wonderful as long as you make it meaningful.
In your spare time, you could play basketball, football and so on. Doing sports is very interesting and good for your health.
In fact, you can do anything which you are interested not be are friends.
Studying in college is a brand new start of our can continue to study hard for the better scords. Libary is a good place for students to study in. If you want to show your talents and skills you can join in all kinds of activities.
In a word,college life is wonderful!
你或许会认为大学生活很枯燥，你不知道如何处理这么充足的空余时间。但是我认为只要你过得有意义大学生活会变得非常精彩。
在业余时间，你可以打篮球，踢足球等等，做运动是很有趣的，并且对你的健康也有帮助。

Different people have different hobbies. Hobbies are activities in which one participates for amusement. A hobbys can be anything, such as listening to music, playing various musical instruments, reading books, collecting stamps, going for sports and so on. It mainly depends on one’s interest and character.
There is no doubt that hobbies have a great influence on people’s life and society. Good hobbies can benefit people in many ways. They are both helpful to people’s growth and development, either physically or spiritually. On the other hand, bad hobbies are harmful to people. For example. Excessive drinking and smoking not only affect study and work but also hurt one’s mind and body.
Discovery is not such a big and noble word that only experts and scientists are entitled to use. In fact, every one of us makes discoveries as we grow. For example, a baby will find out how he can play with his toy car after he has tried several times. We will discover how to ride a bike skillfully after practicing again and again.
Often a discovery brings great joy to the person who makes it. You will certainly be delighted when you find the thing you have been looking for. You will be extremely happy when you one day realize that you have learned and mastered a skill or method which was almost too difficult for you at the beginning.
Sometimes, however, discovery means regret or even pain. You witt feet great regret when you find that you have hurt one of your friends or one of your family members. You will surelybe disappointed when you discover that you failed in the examination for which you have prepared for a tong time. Joy or sorrow as it may bring, discovery is an integral part of our life.
When times become difficult (and you know they sometimes will), remember a moment in your life that was filled with joy and happiness.
Remember how it made you feel, and you will have the strength you need to get through any trial.
When life throws you one more obstacle than you think you can handle, remember something you achieved through perseverance and by struggling to the end.
In doing so, you'll find you have the ability to overcome each obstacle brought your way.
When you find yourself drained and depleted of energy, remember to find a place of sanctuary and rest.
Take the neccessary time in your own life to dream your dreams and renew your energy, so you'll be ready to face each new day.
When you feel tension building, find something fun to do. You'll find that the stress you feel will dissipate and your thoughts will become clearer.
When you're faced with so many negative and draining situations, realize how minuscule problems will seem when you view your life as a whole--and remember the positive things.
